Service learning challenges students to employ their talents and skills to better their world through self directed projects. Each project begins with researching a problem and defining possible solutions. A action plan is then developed to implement the solution. Finally, students present a reflection on their research, planning and implementation to celebrate their accomplishments and to consider future actions. Over the past year, students have completed service learning projects on the removal of invasive species and trail development in local natural areas. Students helped to write a successful $50,000 solar grant and met with Senator Bernie Sanders. The most recent student effort is to try to help Haitains, in partnership with the Colchester Rotary.
